To help put things into context, it is important to know some background information on the person or subject you are interested in.
Education:
I have a Bachelor of Arts – Chemistry from Connecticut College. After working for a few years in an environmental chemistry lab, I earned Master of Science – Chemistry from Florida State University. At FSU, I fell in love with college football and basketball, so you know what I am doing most fall weekends. My Thesis was titled: Novel Applications of Capillary Electrophoresis in Biogeochemical Analyses.
Several years after becoming a manager at the GBI, I was able to attend, Georgia Law Enforcement, GBI Professional Management Program at Columbus State University. This program provided my first taste at management related topics such as diverse workforce, decision making, marginal employees, leadership, public administration.
After years in management, I decided I still needed to learn more about leadership so I earned Master of Business – Professional Leadership at Middle Georgia State University. This is an excellent program and really helped me solidify my understanding of leadership. The degree covered the following topics: leadership, organizational behavior, strategic management, continuous process improvement.
Work Experience:
After earning my Master of Science- Chemistry, I was an temporary instructor for Georgia Southern University Chemistry Department. After about two years, I left Georgia Southern for a permanent position in the Division of Forensic Sciences at Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
I began my career as a Crime Laboratory Drug Chemist, where I analyzed and testified on controlled substances. Several years in, I was promoted to Associate Crime Laboratory Assistant Manager where I assisted the manager in the daily operations of the lab and began my education in working with people. When my manager retired, I was promoted to Senior Crime Laboratory Manager.
